The Fridolin Charitable Trust funds ideas, projects and organizations in education, the arts, public policy, civil liberties, human rights, medical research and health care.  Its primary focus is in support of those underlying values and attitudes that enable educational endeavors that challenge students to think and act creatively or in an unorthodox manner, unimpeded by common thought or convention —projects which encourage one to “Think Outside The Box.”

Marcus Garvey Academy

The Marcus Garvey African Centered Academy is a K -8 school with a clear vision and mission. The vision is to provide a high performing environment that places emphasis on cultural awareness, global learning and community service in an African centered, loving, nurturing learning environment.

Detroit Community Schools

A&D’s current academic programs and projects focus on generating new creative work, integrating the cultures of art and design, and engaging with the University, region, and national and international communities. The Brightmoor Youth Garden

The Brightmoor Youth Garden seeks to use market gardening as a vehicle to provide youth, ages 9-18, with the opportunity to obtain and build skills, knowledge and experience necessary for a healthy, prosperous, purposeful, and sustainable life.

Brightmoor Alliance

The Brightmoor Alliance is focused on mobilizing resources to help ensure a vibrant community where residents can pray, grow, learn, thrive and play. Serving northwest Detroit’s Brightmoor community, we work with our member organizations to revitalize our community by addressing issues such as: schools, employment, safety, housing, human services, shopping and recreation.

Pewabic Pottery

Pewabic Pottery is a living treasure and offers visitors an exciting glimpse of a little known part of American history.  It was founded in 1903 by artist Mary Chase Perry Stratton for her studio and pottery. Today Pewabic is a non-profit ceramic design studio, education center and National Historic Landmark. Welcoming local, U.S. and international visitors, Pewabic is open all year long. It is Pewabic’s mission to engage people in learning experiences with contemporary ceramic art and artists and to promote and preserve their historic legacy.

James and Grace Lee Boggs Center

Our mission is to nurture the transformational leadership capacities of individuals and organizations committed to creating productive, sustainable, ecologically responsible, and just communities. Through local, national and international networks of activists, artists and intellectuals we foster new ways of living, being and thinking to face the challenges of the 21st century.

Earthworks Urban Farm

Earthworks is a program of the Capuchin Soup Kitchen, seeking to promote sustainable agricultural practices, nutrition and care for the Earth. We strive for peace, respect and harmony between Neighbor and Nature. It is a working study in social justice, as well as in being more connected to the food we eat.

Motor City Horse Force

The Motor City Horse Force is bringing even more horsepower to town. This nonprofit foundation has come together in support of the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office Mounted Unit — the only one of its kind in Michigan — and its twelve trusty steeds. Our group’s mission is to help add more horses to the Mounted Unit for public safety in Southeastern Michigan.
